Description of Work

This Vocational Evaluator position is located in the Gastonia VR Unit office and provides vocational evaluation and career services to students and adults with disabilities within the two-county catchment areas of Gaston and Lincoln counties.
The selected candidate provides comprehensive vocational evaluation services to consumers with a range of disabilities, education levels, and work experience in order to assist with job planning and placement.
Job responsibilities include the following:
  • Conducting community-based vocational assessments
  • Administering/scoring/interpreting an extensive variety of vocational interest, achievement, and aptitude tests
  • Analyzing consumers' medical, psychological, socio-economic, vocational, and educational information in the context of vocational planning
  • Developing and administering a formal evaluation plan for each individual served
  • Creating written reports which may be used by other agencies in determining disability benefits and compensation
  • Gathering occupational resource information for better service deliverables
  • Participating in multi-disciplinary teams and committees
  • Collaborating with Business Relations Representatives for cohesive service delivery for achievement of a suitable vocational goal
  • Partnering with consumers and their family members, employers, school personnel, and other community agencies/contacts
  • Performing other duties as assigned

Master s degree in vocational evaluation, rehabilitation counseling, or closely related human services field from an appropriately accredited institution
OR
Bachelor s degree in vocational evaluation, rehabilitation counseling, or a closely related human services field from an appropriately accredited institution and two years of experience that provides the necessary knowledge, skills and abilities
OR
equivalent combination of education and experience
