Keith Alcohol & Drug Abuse Treatment Center (JFK-ADATC)  in beautiful Black Mountain, North Carolina.

The Substance Abuse Worker / Peer Support Specialist provides general alcohol/drug information, unit orientation, and community living supervision to clients in a residential substance use disorder treatment program. The Substance Abuse Worker / Peer Support Specialist primary job responsibilities are:
  • Assure that the operational functions of the facility are accomplished at the level set forth in appropriate standards, guidelines and policy. 
  • Provide support services to clinical counselors and other professionals in a variety of duties, to include crisis intervention, screening/assessment, group facilitation, record keeping and case management. 
  • Assist in transportation activities, food service operations, and provision of support services to all professional teams. 
  • Maintain appropriate inventories of supplies and materials and distributes supplies as needed. 
  • Perform routine head counts and monitors and supervises client movement.

 JFK is a 68-bed inpatient treatment facility designed to meet the needs of adults with substance use disorders from the 44 westernmost counties in North Carolina. The facility treats individuals with substance abuse and psychiatric diagnoses. JFK is accredited by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations as a Behavioral Health facility and certified by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services as an inpatient psychiatric hospital.

Minimum Education and Experience:
  • High school or General Educational Development (GED) diploma 
  • AND one year of experience working with individuals who are undergoing treatment for substance use disorders, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Management Preferences: 
  • Posses valid drivers license
  • Peer Support Specialist certification 
  • History of sustained recovery experience
