We are looking for a skilled, detail oriented, Registered Nurse for the role of Health Program Specialist/RN. In this role you will be an integral part of our Public Health Division by acting as a key member of the Office of Maternal and Child Health Epidemiology.

The Health Program Specialist-RN is a key member of the Office of Maternal and Child Health Epidemiology. They play a large role in both the Maternal Mortality Review Committee (MMRC) and Child Death Review Team’s (CDRT) success. This position works closely with CDRT team coordinator and MMRC team coordinator to ensure timely completion of record requests, records management, case abstraction, and data entry; manages preparations for team reviews, and finds efficiencies and improvements for programs overall.
One main function of this position is record requests and records management for the Maternal and Child Death Review Teams. They receive records requested, track request and receipt of all records using an internal database and organize physical and electronic records in accordance with Federal, State, and program-level data security rules. If needed, this position completes subpoenas for records requests, including coordination with leadership for signature and timelines.
The Health Program Specialist-RN, completes case abstraction for all maternal deaths, conducts comprehensive review of all pertinent records with completion of detailed abstraction tools and develops a written narrative summary for the review team. The Health Program Specialist-RN completes data entry using internal and national databases. The Health Program Specialist-RN is also charged with developing protocol for Maternal Mortality Informant Interviews. This position will pilot completed Informant Interview documents after they are developed; adjust as needed; complete additional informant interviews on an ongoing basis.
In addition, the Health Program Specialist-RN will be fully integrated by attending regular meetings and participating in projects at the Office of Maternal and Child Health Epidemiology, Lifespan Health Services Unit, Division of Public Health, and Department of Health and Human Services levels.
REQUIREMENTS: Licensure as a Registered Professional Nurse in the State of Nebraska and experience working as a professional Registered Nurse.
Preferred: Bachelor's degree in nursing, public health, social work, or other related field is preferred. Experience in the areas of obstetrics, pediatrics, public health, social services, forensics, or other related specialties is also preferred.
Pay Rate: $35.985/hour - $48.022/hour based on years of RN and LPN work experience.
Special qualifications or attributes include: excellent written and verbal communication skills, ability to work collaboratively in a team environment, ability to manage time and meet deadlines, ability to use problem solving techniques, strong organizational skills.
Preferred skills include: Knowledge of maternal and child health topics and experience with case abstraction.
