Hourly Pay Rate: $15.00

Job Location/Shift: This position is with the Missouri Department of Natural Resources, Division of State Parks, and will be located at Montauk State Park, 345 County Rd. 6670, Salem, MO 65560. This position will be temporary, extending the length of the recreation season between May and September. The work hours are flexible; but shall be expected to be between 20 to 40 hours per week, not to exceed 1,000 hours total during the length of the employment. Some weekends and evenings are required.

What you’ll do:

• Assist with and present interpretive programs such as nature walks, tours of our historic gristmill, and evening programs.
• Conduct stewardship practices such as removing invasive plant species.
• Assist with Flora and Fauna surveys within the park.
• Help maintain and manage the park’s trail system
• Help catalogue, research, and maintain cultural and natural resources related to the park
• Assist in other duties that are required by the Park Naturalist and Park Superintendent

All you need for success:

Preferred Qualifications and Experience/Special Job Requirements

• Valid driver’s license
• Ability to speak in front of groups
• Experience or interest in Missouri’s natural and cultural resources
• Background in teaching or education
• Background in biology, wildlife, botany, ecology, environmental education, parks and recreation, or other environmental sciences
• Ability to hike in rugged terrain
• Willingness to learn new skills for working outdoors
