This position will be located at Missouri Department of Natural Resources, Division of Environmental Quality, Environmental Remediation Program, 1730 East Elm Street, Jefferson City, MO.

Tanks has a great team atmosphere. We provide clear expectations and lots of training opportunities. Working to cleanup petroleum releases is a highly fulfilling endeavor, improving both human health and the environment.

  • Provide critical review of technical environmental documents
  • Help the regulated community understand the laws and regulations regarding petroleum storage tank releases
  • Work with stakeholders to cleanup releases to promote property utilization while protecting human health and the environment

To be successful in this position, a candidate will need the following skills:

  • Environmental Science: Knowledge of the concepts, principles, theories, and methods to protect and improve the quality of the environment and its resources; and to monitor, control, abate, and prevent pollutants.
  • Attention to Detail: Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail.
  • Oral and Written Communication: Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, consider the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral and written presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately.

Equivalent to those typically gained by:

  • A Bachelor’s degree with 0-4 years of relevant experience (Substitutions may be allowed.)
  • Experience in Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities in a positive manner.
  • Knowledge of federal and state laws, rules, and regulations.
  • Ability to work effectively, independently, and collaboratively.
  • Work cooperatively with other sections within the Environmental Remediation Program, other parts of the Department, other agencies, and external stakeholders.
  • Ability to take initiative when there is little direction available.
