State of Missouri is Hiring a Research Analyst (4209031) Near Jefferson City, MO

Job Location: This position will be located at 920 Wildwood Dr, Jefferson City, MO 65109

Why you’ll love this position:

We are seeking a qualified individual that has experience in data and statistical analysis for a position that plays an important role in public health. This is a highly responsible position requiring data management, statistical and analytical skills. The position is responsible for the development and maintenance of programs that are used in the Department’s on-line web query system (MOPHIMS/MICA). The position will work in combination with other analysts in the development of the Patient Abstract System (PAS), which collects information from hospitals/emergency rooms and ambulatory surgical centers.

In addition, the position is responsible for developing drug overdose reports on a quarterly basis to CDC as part of the Overdose Data to Action cooperative agreement. The analyst will assist in other aspects of overdose surveillance including other special projects and adhoc data requests. The position will also collect and analyze managed care data and associated reports.

What you’ll do:

  • Write and edit SAS code that develops datasets for inclusion in the Department's public web query tool (MOPHIMS/MICA). This work involves writing and executing programs in the SAS to detect formatting and data field problems, and assisting in the coordination and maintenance of the overall MICA system.
  • Assist in developing the PAS data file. This work includes processing of records, making corrections and developing quarterly and annual data files.
  • Respond to PAS related data requests.
  • Develop data for inclusion in opioid related dashboards and work with others with the Bureau and Department on developing useful graphics that accurately and effectively display the data.
  • Respond to data request relating to non-fatal drug overdoses.
  • Develop managed care reports for display on the Department's website.

All you need for success:

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree. Transcripts are required.
  • At least two years of experience with data and analysis. Advanced education may be used as a substitute in applicable situations.
  • Experience with spreadsheets and word processing programs such as Excel and Word as well as other PC desktop resources.
  • Experience with SAS or other statistical software and general programming techniques is highly desirable but not required.
  • Interest in data presentation and data visualization software is helpful.
  • Highly organized and detail oriented with strong written and verbal communication skills.
