Job Summary:

The Supreme Court of Missouri is accepting applications for a Fiscal Officer. This position is responsible for assisting the Director of Operations in administrative and accounting assignments with an ability to prioritize projects and requests. Candidates must possess good communication skills, ability to meet deadlines and work within the requirements of statutes and policy. Must also be able to identify problems and make recommendations regarding solutions. This position requires extensive knowledge of general accepted accounting principles and the State of Missouri’s accounting systems.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Perform accounts payable functions including code and process payment documents, work with vendors on documentation and accuracy of invoices and maintain official accounts files.
  • Process accounts receivables including cash deposits, miscellaneous receipts, prepare various billing invoices, and disperse invoices for salaries to necessary agencies for allocation of payments.
  • Complete procurement processes: Enter approved purchases, obtain bids and documentation from vendors with accuracy and price comparisons, and prepare contracts and MOU for products and services provided to the Court.
  • Prepare budget estimates for the annual budget, capital projects, and estimates for yearly spending plans.
  • Reconcile various accounts, purchasing cards with matching receipts, and monthly expenditures.
  • Provide technical assistance to departments within the Supreme Court of Missouri.
  • Work on reconciliation for the Statewide conversion to the new ERP system.
  • Prepare spending plans and projections for certain funds, cash balance reports, and other specialized reports as needed.
  • Work on the State Fleet Management system.
  • Work with Office of Administration to resolve issues.
  • Provide responses to inquiries from the Clerk, Judges, and other staff regarding matters of Court operations and budget.
  • Order personalized items such as stationary when needed.
  • Provide support to other offices during peak periods.
  • Additional duties as assigned.

Required Skills/Abilities

  • Must become familiar with knowledge of Supreme Court of Missouri policies.
  • Knowledge of Governmental Accounting Standards Board (GASB) accounting principles, State of Missouri Statutes and laws as they relate to procurement.
  • Knowledge of the State of Missouri’s ERP system preferred.
  • Ability to analyze, appraise, and organize facts in written materials.
  • Must have good attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Capability of prioritizing and organizing tasks to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with judges, employees, court officials, and the general public.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • A bachelor’s degree in business, accounting or related field. Financial experience may be considered for a substitution on a year-for-year basis for the required education.

Annual starting salary up to $54,743 depending on qualifications. Interested candidates should submit their resume along with at least three professional references. Applications received by June 14, 2023 will receive preference, but applications may be considered until position is filled.
