State of Missouri is Hiring an Environmental Program Supervisor - SLR0012 Near St. Louis, MO

Salary: $2,620 - $2,751 semi-monthly *Salary may be based of education and/or experience

Job Location: This position is with the Missouri Department of Natural Resources, Division of Environmental Quality, and will be located at the St. Louis Regional Office at 7545 S. Lindbergh Blvd., St. Louis, MO 63125.

Why you’ll love this position:

You will be supervising the Air Pollution Unit in the St. Louis Regional Office, where you will work to protect environmental quality in the St. Louis Region. This includes directing scientific, professional, and technical team members in natural resource management, environmental protection, and environmental health programs involving air quality of the St. Louis Region.

What you’ll do:

  • Assign, monitor, and direct the work of team members and oversee daily unit operations
  • Plan, develop, organize, and coordinate team member investigations, inspections, enforcement, and/or related activities
  • Provide supervision and guidance to team members on the implementation of new and revised policies and procedures
  • Select and train scientific, professional, and/or technical team members and associated support team members
  • Review and evaluate team member work product and performance for completion, accuracy, and for compliance with laws, regulations, and policies
  • Prepare work plans and cost estimates; prepare and maintain associated records and reports
  • Attend meetings, seminars, conferences, and related trainings
  • Acquire and maintain OSHA HAZWOPER, EPA Method 9, and Missouri Asbestos Building Inspector and Worker/Supervisor certifications
  • Conduct air pollution source inspections at often complex facilities to ensure compliance with applicable state and federal air pollution control laws and regulations; prepare formal written inspection reports complete with applicable checklists and other documentation, with discussion of the inspection findings, and recommendations to direct compliance
  • Maintain working knowledge of Federal Clean Air Act, Asbestos NESHAP, Missouri Air Conservation Commission, and Gasoline Vapor Recovery requirements and regulations
  • Perform other related work as assigned

All you need for success:

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Science or Technology, Chemistry, Biology, Physics, Physical Science, Geology, Engineering, Agronomy, Forestry, Soil Science, Ecology, Wildlife Management, Agriculture, Animal Science, Natural Resource Management, Soil Conservation, Atmospheric Science, Meteorology, or a closely related field and 4 or more years of air pollution control experience
  • (Additional education or experience may substitute for the required education or experience)

Preferred Qualifications

  • The ability to operate a motor vehicle and maintain a valid vehicle operator’s license
  • Training, certification, and/or education in continuous process improvement programs such as Lean Six Sigma as well as completion of Missouri Way, Leadership Academy, and similar programs is preferred.
