The Office of College and Career Readiness consists of three areas:

Curriculum Services - The curriculum services section provides professional services related to the development and implementation of improved curricula in the schools of the state.

Career Education - Missouri Career Education combines academics and occupational skill training to prepare students of all ages. Training programs are offered in Agriculture, Business, Health Sciences, Family and Consumer Sciences, Skilled Technical Sciences, Technology and Engineering, and Marketing and Cooperative Education.

School Counseling – The School Counseling Section provides resources and technical assistance to help school counselors fully implement comprehensive school counseling programs in their schools.

What you’ll do:

  • Leads, supervises, coordinates, and evaluates the personnel, programs, and services assigned to the Office of College and Career Readiness (OCCR) by the Commissioner of Education and Deputy Commissioner of Learning Services including curriculum (English language arts, science, social studies, fine arts, mathematics, literacy), career and technical education (CTE) programs (including career pathways; registered youth apprenticeship training programs; agriculture, food and natural resources; business, marketing & information technology; family consumer sciences and human services; technology and engineering, health science, and skilled technical sciences), civil rights compliance, school counseling, school-based mental health, and adult education and literacy (including high school equivalency).
  • Assists in developing and implementing Department policy and the strategic plan including the vision, mission, core values, priority areas, success measures, and strategic actions.
  • Directs and supervises state and federally financed programs in accordance with the policies of the State Board of Education and Missouri statutes.
  • Maintains professional relationships and works cooperatively with all levels of the organization and external stakeholders.
  • Informs and advises the Deputy Commissioner of Learning Services on agency policy, including implementing, evaluating the effectiveness of, and recommending improvements.

All you need for success:

Minimum Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree in an education field or closely related area with other abilities, training, and experiences in the instructional process as required by the State Board of Education.
  • Successful experience as a school administrator, CTE administrator, or adult education supervisor is preferred, with other abilities, trainings, and experiences considered.
