State of Missouri is Hiring an Accounting Specialist - FAS, Accounting Near Jefferson City, MO

Why you’ll love this position:

The Accounting area coordinates the Department’s centralized accounting and fiscal program. The Accounting personnel process the payment of Department obligations, record expenditures, serve as a liaison to the Office of Administration (OA), Division of Accounting and the State Auditor’s Office, provide financial data to the rest of the Department, invest Department funds, prepare all cash receipt documents for submission to the Department of Revenue, prepare and approve the Department’s payroll, maintain the Department’s fixed asset records, and prepare and revise the internal accounting manuals.

What you’ll do:

  • Review employee expense accounts to determine compliance with Department and State travel regulations and process expense account payments on SAM II and MODocs.
  • Review and process interagency bill payments on SAM II.
  • Set up office equipment contracts for the Department and maintains office equipment maintenance database.
  • Coordinate and process surplus request for the Department by working with OA-Surplus Property.
  • Maintain the Department’s fixed assets in SAM II. This involves additions, transfers, modification, and disposals.
  • Process Journal Vouchers (JV) pertaining to the Department’s fixed assets.
  • Reconcile fixed asset subsystem with the general ledger semi-annually.
  • Mail all vendor and expense checks, including invoice to ensure proper credit is applied.
  • Update Accounting Manuals and training guidelines.
  • Send and track the Department’s ITSD Rebills

All you need for success:

Minimum Qualifications

  • Graduation from high school or have high school equivalency through which knowledge of English grammar and punctuation, basic typing or keyboarding, and basic mathematics may have been acquired.
  • Two or more years of experience successfully performing progressively responsible support tasks involving bookkeeping or related duties.
