Job Summary

This is a temporary, part-time (75% FTE) position anticipated to last up to one year.

This position provides support to the Predatory Offender Registration (POR) Unit as well as the Predatory Crimes Section at the Bureau of Criminal Apprehension (BCA). This position will assist with general clerical office duties and updating the POR system. Examples of job duties are processing incoming mail, assisting with certifying documents for court and processing paperwork for homeless offenders, and performing other duties for the Investigations Sections as requested by the Senior State Program Administrator Supervisor, Assistant Special Agent in Charge or Special Agent in Charge.

This job is a great way to learn more about the Predatory Offender Registration Unit and larger Predatory Crimes section, by assisting the unit with processing of documentation. It is great entry into this area of work.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • Skill in customer service sufficient to provide prompt and accurate information to customers in person, on the phone, and through email and other written electronic correspondence.
  • Ability to learn, understand, and apply the legal and criminal justice terminology within a short amount of time.
  • Knowledge of data entry procedures and systems, such as Microsoft Office or similar data entry systems.
  • Knowledge of communications sufficient to share information and communicate with stakeholders and colleagues.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working in legal or criminal justice setting.
  • Experience with database management or data entry.
  • Ability to work cooperatively with individuals from diverse backgrounds and underserved communities.

Physical Requirements

Requires occasionally moving and transporting such articles as file boxes and heavy hand tools or heavier materials with help from others, and moving and transporting light objects frequently. Even though the weights being moved and transported may be a negligible amount, a job in this category may require positioning self to move to a significant degree or may involve maintaining a stationary position for extended periods.
