Job Summary

Are you passionate about making a difference and contributing to a safe work environment? The Enterprise Workplace Violence and Emergency Preparedness Manager plays a key role leading the State’s efforts to promote a safe and engaged workforce. The State of Minnesota aspires to be a place where all people are free from threats and acts of violence. State employees provide a diverse array of important services to the people of Minnesota across many different facilities, geographic locations, and work schedules. It is important to strategically and intentionally plan for preventing threats and acts of violence against State employees in advance, as well as being prepared to respond to and recover from those acts of violence which do occur.

The Enterprise Workplace Violence and Emergency Preparedness Manager will engage state agencies and other partners in developing or enhancing their workplace violence prevention and response programming. This position:

  • Leads enterprise workplace violence prevention and response programming in accordance with MMB’s HR/LR Policy #1444 Workplace Violence Prohibited.
  • Directs state agencies in developing or enhancing their workplace violence programs through development, training, exercises, evaluation, and project management.
  • Coordinates multi-agency and cross-functional work groups across areas such as Human Resources, Labor Relations, Safety, Facilities, Security, and Legal.
  • Develops programmatic research, analysis, and evaluation to brief State leaders and inform resource allocation and prioritization decisions.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

Four (4) years’ experience of working with incident management programs and duties must include

  • Lead workplace violence education, training, drills, and exercises and help facilitate training and exercising.
  • Experience with large scale all hazards emergency preparedness and planning.
  • Extensive knowledge of state and federal emergency preparedness policies, procedures, programs, and goals
    • Bachelor’s degree in a related field will be substituted for 1 year of required experience.
    • Advanced degree in a related field will be substituted for 18 months of required experience.
  • Knowledge of adult education principles and practice.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experiencereviewing and updating policies and process for evaluating agency workplace violence planning programs.
  • Experience with local law enforcement and emergency management during workplace violence incidents that involve state employees.
  • Certified Threat Manager by the Association of Threat Assessment Professionals
