Department of Labor - Bureau of Labor Standards

Grade: 16 (Administrative Services)
Salary: $37,876 - $52,478Location: Augusta

Closing Date: June 28, 2024

This position is part of the Bureau of Labor Standards and will primarily process minor work permits and H2-A Logging Certificates, perform complaint case intake and process staff expense reports, purchasing contracts and state credit card purchases. 

Primary responsibilities include: 

  • Entering into and processing cases in the Bureau’s AMANDA case management system, and contracts and purchases in AdvantageMe and state credit card systems and associated paperwork.
  • Preparing event and class publications, space and travel accommodations.
  • Onboarding and helping staff with computer technology use and resources.
  • Oversee and maintain inventory/supplies.
  • Maintaining/updating directories and resources for departmental staff and public inquiries on varied matters.

Skills or knowledge required:

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office components.
  • Knowledge of browser-based system navigation and features.
  • Ability to learn and use complex data systems effectively.
  • Ability to develop tools to track and consistently process information.
  • Ability to explain and help staff and customers navigate browser-based systems.
  • Ability to document issues and instructions.
  • Clear, strong communication skills.

Minimum qualifications:

Training, education, or experience in office and administrative support work that demonstrates 1) competency in applying a proficient knowledge of modern office practices to perform advanced administrative support tasks requiring specialized skills, and 2) the ability to use independent judgment, initiative, and discretion to make determinations on varied matters. All positions in this classification assume the qualifications of: Office Assistant I, Office Assistant II, Office Associate I and Office Associate II.

Preference will be given to those applicants:

Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and working knowledge of complex, browser-based processing systems like AdvantageME, Aware, AJLA, ReEmployMe or AMANDA.
