Responsibilities:
As part of Career Progression Group, vacancies may be filled from this recruitment as an Engineer Intern Applicant, Engineer Intern 1, Engineer Intern 2, Engineer 3, Engineer 4, or Engineer 5 depending on the level of experience of the selected applicant. Please refer to the “Job Specifications” tab located at the top of the LA Careers “Current Job Opportunities” page of the Civil Service website for specific information of salary ranges, minimum qualifications and job concepts for each level. The maximum salary for the Engineer 5 is $126,256 annually.
There are bi-weekly special entrance rates established for this position:
Engineer Intern 1 $2,115.20
Engineer Intern 2 $2,263.20
Engineer 3 $2,671.20
Engineer 4 $2,952.00
Engineer 5 $3,158.40

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Eligibility for a Louisiana Engineer Intern Certificate.
NOTE: This is a temporary position to be utilized while the incumbent is securing a Louisiana Engineer Intern certificate. Permanent status shall be denied to incumbents occupying this position.

NOTE: Any college hours or degree must be from an accredited college or university.
FUNCTION OF WORK:EXAMPLES BELOW ARE A BRIEF SAMPLE OF COMMON DUTIES ASSOCIATED WITH THIS JOB TITLE. NOT ALL POSSIBLE TASKS ARE INCLUDED.
Assists in economic justification studies for proposed engineering facilities and performs computations and analyses of cost-benefit engineering considerations.
Applies basic engineering formulas to routine calculations.
Assists with oversight of construction of structures such as: buildings, canals and locks, docks and piers, hydraulic structures, and other works.
Conducts on-site inspections of levees, floodwalls, pump stations, and associated infrastructures.
