Farragut State Park is in search of a dedicated and passionate individual to join our team as a Park Ranger, where you'll play a vital role in preserving the breathtaking scenery and rich history of this northern Idaho gem!
Farragut State Park, nestled on the southern shores of Lake Pend Oreille within the picturesque Coeur d’Alene Mountains of northern Idaho, beckons adventurers with its captivating scenery, rich history, and diverse recreational offerings. From disc golf and a radio-controlled airplane field to fishing, hiking, biking, and equestrian facilities, there's something for everyone to enjoy. Explore the park's unique World War II history and be sure not to miss the Museum at the Brig, offering a fascinating glimpse into the past.
As a Park Ranger at Farragut State Park, you'll have the opportunity to preserve this extraordinary natural and historical treasure while ensuring the safety and enjoyment of visitors from all walks of life. Your role will involve maintaining park facilities and grounds to uphold resource preservation and visitor well-being. This includes engaging in a variety of craft activities such as carpentry, plumbing, electrical work, and masonry to uphold the integrity of park structures. You'll also operate and repair a range of vehicles, trucks, mowers, groomers, backhoes, and essential hand and power tools necessary for park upkeep. Hazardous tree removal and equipment inspection and modification will also be part of your responsibilities to mitigate risks and ensure safe park conditions. Your dedication to these maintenance tasks will play a pivotal role in preserving Farragut State Park's legacy as a pristine haven for outdoor enthusiasts and history buffs alike.

These positions involve various skills including public relations; natural resource management; park building and grounds maintenance; park and recreation rule compliance, and conflict resolution of visitor and user issues.
This position involves working nights, weekends, and many holidays, in all weather conditions, and with potentially caustic materials and pesticides. It also involves lifting items weighing 40 pounds and occasionally up to 100 pounds, bending, stooping, and climbing ladders.
A background check by the Department will be required.
