Level I: $3,067 to $3,884 per month (SR-09, Step C to I)
Level II: $3,194 to $4,038 per month (SR-10, Step C to I)

Duties Summary

Level I: Enforcing State parking lot rules and regulations and county traffic codes relative to vehicle parking, issuing citations to violators, protecting related property, and maintaining order in government parking lots and surrounding areas within assigned geographic locations; acts as first responders to alarms, scenes of accidents, hazards, public disorders, criminal activities and other disturbances/emergencies, and performs private citizen's arrest as required to enforce all parking rules and regulations as prescribed by the agency. Work is performed independently at assigned work locations, and is subject to periodic check as well as review of reports and citations issued; and performs other related duties as assigned.
Level II: In addition to the duties at Level I, performs skilled work in the maintenance, repair and testing of parking meters for a substantial percentage of time and schedules the inspection and servicing of meters.

Minimum Qualification Requirements

Legal Authorization To Work Requirement:
The State of Hawaii requires all persons seeking employment with the government of the State shall be citizens, nationals, or permanent resident aliens of the United States, or eligible under federal law for unrestricted employment in the United States.
Applicants will be placed on the eligible list for ALL levels for which they are qualified.
For Level I:
General Experience: One year of work experience which demonstrated the ability to:
A. meet and deal effectively with people;
B. enforce and apply various rules and regulations;
C. prepare reports; and
D. perform simple arithmetic computations (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division).
License: Applicants must possess a valid State of Hawaii Security Guard's License. Information about obtaining an application for the Security Guard License is available with the State Department of Commerce & Consumer Affairs via: http://cca.hawaii.gov/pvl/boards/private/.
Driver's License: You must possess a valid driver's license at the time of appointment.
Lifting and Carrying: Applicants must be able to lift and carry objects weighing up to 35 pounds unassisted and up to 100 pounds assisted by another person and/or use of equipment (e.g. hoisting equipment, hand truck, etc.), with or without reasonable accommodation.
For Level II:
In addition to all the requirements for Level I listed above:
Specialized Experience: One year of work experience which involved checking parking lots for parking violators, citing violators, and directing traffic within parking lots.
