POSITION SUMMARY:

This position is in the Production Systems Services bureau, reporting to the Database Administration section. This is a full-time position that requires knowledge of data administration, data/process modeling concepts and techniques, relational database design, systems development methodology, and database administration. The position requires skill and experience in the highly technical database administration functions of Oracle database management system; SQL Server database management system; MYSQL database management system; and, the numerous application databases that are maintained within them.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Specific duties include:

  • Management and administration of Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server and MySQL database software and databases;
  • Installing, configuring, patching and maintaining Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server and MySQL database software and databases;
  • Ensuring the availability, integrity and security of database data;
  • Providing database backup and recovery services;
  • Developing and maintaining utility programs, scripts and routines for management of database systems on Red Hat LINUX and Windows server systems;
  • Providing network support services for database-related network technologies and adapters such as TNS, ODBC, JDBC, OLEDB and .Net; and
  • Assisting in the establishment and enforcement of database administration policies, standards and procedures.

To be considered as a potential candidate, you must meet the minimum qualifications(s) listed below. Degrees must be from an accredited college or university as recognized by the U.S. Department of Education.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university and two years of experience in computer systems analysis or computer programming; or
  2. A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in management information systems or in one of the computer sciences and one year of experience in computer systems analysis or computer programming; or
  3. A master’s degree from an accredited college or university in management information systems or in one of the computer sciences; or
  4. A high school diploma or its equivalent and six years of experience in computer systems analysis or computer programming; or
  5. Any combination of education or experience, as described above, for a total of six years; or
  6. Completion of a 720-classroom hour program of study from a vocational/technical school or accredited community college in an area of data processing* can substitute for one year of the required education or experience; and
  7. Completion of a one-year program of study from a vocational/technical school in an area of data processing* can substitute for one year of the required education or experience.

Note: 30 semester hours, or equivalent, of coursework from an accredited college or university is equivalent to one year of experience. *Data entry excluded in data processing experience.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

  • Knowledge of Oracle and MySQL data base management technologies in UNIX/LINUX operating system environment; 
  • Knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server in a Windows operating system environment; 
  • Knowledge of Oracle network connectivity;
  • Knowledge of SQL and PL/SQL languages; 
  • Knowledge of UNIX/LINUX operating system and commands;
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Server operating system and commands;
  • Experience installing and maintaining Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server and MySQL software and databases; 
  • Experience designing, developing, testing, documenting, and implementing database backup and recovery procedures; 
  • Experience performing database backup and recovery processes for Oracle, MySQL and Microsoft SQL Server; and
  • Ability to plan, organize and coordinate multiple concurrent projects and work assignments. Ability to write technical data processing reports.

BASE SALARY:

  • $ 55,000.00

BACKGROUND:

FDLE requires an extensive background process of all recommended applicants.
