Your Specific Responsibilities:

This is a professional position performing highly responsible technical, consultative, and administrative work. The incumbent in this position is expected to function with a great deal of independence and a high quality of organizational skills. The position holds several major areas of responsibility.

  • Assists with activities related to special populations.
  • Assists the Florida Local Workforce Development Boards and other partners regarding the successful implementation of special projects funded by the Department.
  • Assists with gathering and preparing training materials.
  • Assists with researching federal and state laws, statutes, regulations and other governing authorities for the development and updating of programmatic policies, procedures and guidelines related to assigned projects.
  • Assists with various activities for assigned projects.
  • Works with staff providing assistance for the development and operation of assigned workforce programs.
  • May serve on workgroups related to assigned projects.
  • Other duties as required. 

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Ability to work under supervision and/or independently.
  • Basic knowledge of the methods data collection and analysis.
  • Basic knowledge of basic business principles and practices
  • Ability to utilize problem solving techniques.
  • Ability to create and maintain working relationships.
  • Ability to gather and organize training materials.
  • Ability to demonstrate attention to detail.
  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective internal and external working relationships.
  • Ability to conduct fact finding research.
  • Ability to complete work assignments and meet established deadlines.
  • Skilled in the use of basic Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and other computer software applications.

Qualifications:

As a condition of pre-employment eligibility, a Level 2 security background screening is required, which consists of fingerprinting and a check of local, state, and national law enforcement records.

Minimum:

  • Work hours of 8:00 am to 5:00 pm.
  • Duties and responsibilities of this position must be performed at the official work site of the Department.
  • Some travel may be required. .

Preferred:

  • A bachelor’s degree (or higher) or two years of equivalent relevant work experience.
  • Experience researching federal or state law, regulations, or other governing authorities to update policies, procedures, or guidelines.
  • Experience analyzing data to complete reports of program activities.
  • Experience developing and implementing workforce development programs.
  • Experience developing and/or implementing grants.

Pay:

$40,000 to $45,000 Annually

The Government Operations Consultant I is a member of the Bureau of One Stop and Program Support, Grants and Special Initiatives team of the Division of Workforce Services. This is a professional position performing technical, consultative, and administrative work, assisting, and supporting special Federal and State-funded workforce projects. The incumbent in this position is expected to function with a great deal of independence and a basic understanding of business practices and organizational skills.
