Summary Statement
This position works as a member of the management team at the health unit and plans, directs, and evaluates the work of direct care staff at the health unit. Work includes supervision of full-time Merit positions; program planning, directing, and monitoring as well as evaluation of program effectiveness for recommendations to Administration. The elements of supervision include planning, assigning, reviewing, and evaluating performance, training, and recommending hire, termination, and discipline. Supervision also includes responsibility for providing documentation to support recommended corrective and disciplinary actions, signing performance plans and appraisals, and resolving informal grievances. In addition, incumbents provide adequate staff coverage to ensure the quality service delivery to clients and assistance in developing guidelines and manuals for specific aspects of nursing services.
