Summary Statement
The Traffic Safety Officer inspects, reviews, and applies Temporary Traffic Control (TTC) standards to all Delaware roadways. This position will primarily reference the Delaware specifics of the Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD), Specifications, Details, Safety Hardware, AASHTO guidelines. Primary duties include field inspection, writing inspection reports, reviewing roadway plans, responding to project questions, and attending meetings. Additional duties include incident and emergency TTC, reporting, and participation in planned and unplanned events. This is a multi-level posting for a Traffic Safety Officer position. It is considered Essential and is currently assigned to the Traffic Management Center, though projects and work activities may be statewide.
