COLORADO PARKS AND WILDLIFE (CPW) 
Our Mission is to perpetuate the wildlife resources of the state, to provide a quality state parks system, and to provide enjoyable and sustainable outdoor recreation opportunities that educate and inspire current and future generations to serve as active stewards of Colorado's natural resources. A customer service based position that involves inspecting for invasive Zebra/Quagga Mussels, Milfoil or other plant species on boats and personal watercraft at an inspection point on the park. This is an important position for the protection of natural resources from non-native species that threaten wildlife, drinking water/irrigation and all water related outdoor recreation in the State of Colorado. Specific Duties may include: 
  • Primary responsibility is to support the State Invasive Species Program through watercraft inspection & decontamination at various locations throughout Colorado, as needed. 
  • Work will either be completed independently or in pairs to inspect boats launching and leaving the reservoir, with respect to invasive species such as zebra/quagga mussels.
  • Provide public outreach on the aquatic invasive species topic by providing printed material to those visiting the reservoir.
  • The position will report directly to the Program Office for assignment. Boat inspection training will be provided. 
  • When assistance at watercraft inspection and decontamination sites is not needed, the position will support the Program Manager and Invasive Species Specialists by performing a variety of tasks including: quality control assessment, inventory management, reviewing and editing technical reports, distribution of supplies to field locations, and data entry.
  • This position requires regular overnight travel and distance driving. Early morning, evening & weekend work required.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
1. Good driving record and ability to travel extensively with overnight stays is mandatory.
2. Ability to drive long hours and remain alert.
3. Knowledge of boat and trailer anatomy, ability to trailer boats/decontamination (power washer) units on highways and steep mountain roads.
4. Must be willing to be flexible with the weekday and weekend work schedule, as field work may be dictated by weather.
5. Experience with Microsoft Word applications required – Word, Excel, Access
6. Excellent communication skills (both written and verbal) are required.
7. Excellent organization skills and attention to detail.
