Job Summary

Using strong interpersonal skills, this position handles all daily activities in the Testing Center, administers testing services to a diverse population and provides administrative support to the Assistant Dean, Lifelong Learning and Workforce Development. Excellent reading comprehension and communication skills are essential in this highly interactive and constantly changing environment.
This is a grant-funded position.
Part-time position, up to 24 hours per week with availability to work some evenings and Saturdays.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Applicants may be asked to demonstrate any or all of the following duties:

  • Schedules and administers tests in a customer-focused environment.
  • Maintains security and confidentiality in the Testing Center by adhering to standardized rules of test procedures and specific proctor requirements for each exam.
  • This position produces and maintains a current Testing Center procedures manual. Reviews, evaluates and updates testing policies and procedures as needed.
  • Maintains up-to-date Testing Center records, documents, information sheets and reports, including both electronic and hard copy versions.
  • Maintains all Testing Center supplies and equipment.
  • Uses, manages, and maintains various office and testing software programs such as MS Word, Excel, online tracking, and calendar databases as well as countless testing software programs.
  • Coordinates and administers a full array of testing services to a variety of students.
  • Resolves all test administration problems and provides excellent customer service.
  • Creates and maintains a web-based testing calendar for testing appointments. Maintains an up-to-date website and the test monitoring systems.
  • Acts as liaison to SCF staff to administer tests according to specific needs to meet deadlines and grant deliverables.
  • Collaborates with the Testing Center team to oversee daily management of the testing center.
  • Maintains competence in testing issues through professional development activities such as, training courses, workshops, conferences, and online resources.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Job Qualifications

  • Education/Experience:

    High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and three or more years of related clerical experience; or the equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience in higher education assessment/testing is preferred.
  • Supervisory Experience:
None required.
  • Language Ability:
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization. Ability to read, understand and explain detailed testing information is essential. Ability to communicate effectively with our Spanish speaking population preferred.
  • Math Ability:
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

  • Reasoning Ability:
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram/chart, or schedule form.

  • Computer Skills:
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of various testing software, database, word processing, spreadsheets, email, and Internet software. Proficiency with current College software is preferred. The ability to troubleshoot computer hardware and software problems is helpful.

  • Certificates and Licenses:
No certification is needed.
