Your Opportunity

As a Senior Mechanical Engineer within Stantec your primary role will be to support project execution as a project technical lead, process/mechanical lead, and discipline engineer for a variety of projects with varying size and complexity. You will participate in the evaluation, recommendation, and specification for engineered systems or products for a project verifying compliance with applicable codes and engineering standards/practices. You will work across sectors including thermal generation, heavy industrial process, and renewable energy.

Your Key Responsibilities

• Perform work which involves conventional types of plans, investigations, surveys, structures, or equipment with some complex features for which there are precedents
• Collaborate on unusual technical or complex problems and receiving supervisory approval on proposed plans for projects
• Perform assignments designed to develop project work, requiring application of standard techniques, procedures, and criteria in carrying out a sequence of related engineering tasks
• Support local Energy clients in the Florida region
• Other responsibilities include leading projects independently, supporting proposal development, assisting in building client relationships, developing new opportunities, and coaching or mentoring junior staff

Qualifications

Your Capabilities and Credentials

• Possess a working knowledge of Industry standards and Mechanical Engineering design principles
• Experience with power plant systems including simple cycle, combined cycle, and biomass power plants
• Strong consulting skills including ability to provide project status and results to clients through frequent contact and follow-up
• Demonstrated ability to handle multiple jobs/projects
• Engineering experience supporting projects from conception through construction
• Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, and a proven ability to write clear, thorough technical reports
• Ability to effectively perform and execute detailed mechanical engineering design including development of general arrangements, PFDs, P&IDs, calculations, specifications, data sheets, and standards
• Ability to provide input and perform review of general arrangements, isometrics, orthographic drawings, and engineering reports
• Ability to lead and execute projects as a technical lead including understanding of budgets and schedules
• Ability to lead and work closely with designers to develop construction documents
• Ability to lead and work within interdisciplinary project teams
• Willingness to go the ‘extra mile’ to support projects, clients, and fellow employees
• Must have a good driving record and valid license
• Prior to employment with Stantec, this position will require the successful passing of a drug screen.

Education and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering
• 10 years’ experience in detailed process and/or power plant engineering and design
• Field engineering experience is an asset
• Professional Registration is a plus

This position will be based out of any Stantec‘s Tampa FL location – remote work may be considered.

Typical office environment working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods of time. Field work may include exposure to industrial process equipment and the elements including inclement weather.
