Stamford Health is Hiring a Wound Care Center Program Manager (RN) Near Stamford, CT

Job Description
*Must be a registered nurse, licensed in the state of Connecticut*
The Wound Care Manager is accountable for the daily operations of the Wound Care Center, including staffing, productivity, budget management and service standards. In addition, this position is available to mentor and develop staff, interface with other departments to assure patient throughput, and collaborate with the professional development department to assess and identify the learning needs of the staff. This position works in collaboration with the Program Director and the Medical Director to meet the Center's program objectives and help ensure optimal healing outcomes and patient satisfaction. The manager utilizes both clinical and leadership skills to identify opportunities for performance improvement. The manager participates in the selection, evaluation, and coaching of unit employees.
Responsibilities
1. Proficient in all responsibilities related to Case Management. May be required to provide case management to a group of patients providing specific assessments according to protocols and procedures, clinical competence in procedural skills, treatments, and patient/caregiver education related to wound care management.
2. Organizes and prioritizes clinical responsibilities, provides clinical oversight to clinical staff, such as Registered Nurses (RNs); Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs) or Licensed Vocational Nurses (LVNs); Certified Medical Assistants (CMAs); Hyperbaric Oxygen Technicians, etc.
3. Collaborates with other health care providers, key hospital personnel, Wound Care Center Providers, Program Director, and Medical Director regarding clinical and patient needs.
4. Consistently looks at current processes and procedures, and identifies and implements areas of improvement, while complying with Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HPAA), the Department of Health (DOH), as well as hospital and Healogics requirements
5. Engages in staff development, providing general in services as well as individual instruction and orientation.
6. Provides staff recognition through positive reinforcement and constructive feedback.
7. Collaborates with Program Director in coordination of program objectives, from a budgetary and financial perspective
8. Collaborates with the Director to maintain a competent staff through the selection process, orientation to the unit, competency development, and ongoing performance management.
9. Identifies yearly competencies through interaction with staff and professional development department and facilitates completion of competencies.
10. May perform hyperbaric safety director duties after completing the required Healogics hyperbaric safety director training.
11. Following require hyperbaric training, may act as a chamber operator or an emergency chamber operator.
12. Interfaces with Bed Coordinators, Case Managers, physicians and nursing units to improve patient throughput through appropriate and timely placement and discharge. Demonstrates awareness of overall needs in the hospital for bed availability and staff.
13. Monitors productivity and adjusts staffing based on volume and acuity. Administers and monitors unit expenditures, including implementation of corrective action(s) to resolve budget variances.
14. Plans and organizes unit-based Performance Improvement activities. Responds to issues with staff, patients, families and physicians as immediately as possible. Leads and participates in PI teams and patient satisfaction efforts in the assigned departments and the hospital as a whole.
15. Ensures that unit staff members adhere to all internal and external regulatory requirements. Works with staff to understand the regulatory standards and professional standards of nursing practice.
16. Participates in the establishment of unit-based goals and objectives as well as the overall Nursing Operational Plan. Provides leadership for unit-based goals and participate in patient care initiatives as requested.
17. Demonstrates a commitment to shared governance, clinical excellence, and the values of Stamford Hospital.
18. Develops strong interpersonal relationships on the unit, with peers, physicians and all partners throughout the system.
19. Performs other duties as required.
Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Nursing is required with a Master's Degree preferred.
•One year experience in nursing supervision as a coordinator, charge nurse or manager required. Two (2) or more years' experience preferred.
•Connecticut License RN is required.
•The ability to compile objective and measurable data and produce written reports is required.
•The ability to develop and communicate written policies and procedures is required.
•High level of competency with computers and computer software such as MS Office or equivalent is required. Specifically, the ability to perform data and statistical analysis using Microsoft Excel or equivalent is required.
•Excellent organizational, communication, interpersonal and public speaking skills are required
•Wound care certification preferred.
