Position Description: Plans, organizes, develops and directs the overall operation of the Nursing Services Department in accordance with current federal, state and local standards governing the facility, and as may be directed by the Administrator to ensure that the highest degree of quality care is maintained. Works with department managers of other area to assure the appropriate and smooth integration of shared functions of resident services.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing with a minimum of a Bachelor degree in nursing or related healthcare field.
  • Currently licensed as an RN in Georgia.
  • Five years nursing experience in an acute care, sub acute care, or long-term care setting.
  • A minimum of three years of demonstrated competence in nursing management and financial management.
  • Knowledge of nursing theory and practice, policies, procedures, and established standards of resident care and regulatory agencies; knowledge of personnel administration and managerial principles and functions.
  • Must be at least 21 years of age
  • Have a valid Class C Georgia Driver’s License, proof of vehicle insurance, and meet company policy regarding MVR requirements.
  • Must meet state requirements regarding a GBI and FBI criminal history record check which requires fingerprinting.
  • Must undergo and pass a drug screening and screening for Tuberculosis.
  • Must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 by date of hire.
Require the COVID-19 vaccine at this point in time. The position is a salaried, 40-hour work week that would generally work weekdays during business hours, but would need to be available to flex in order to meet the needs of the operation. This could include an occasional weekend. The starting salary band for this position, based upon years of leadership and nursing experience ranges from $83-$90K.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Plans, develops, organizes, implements, evaluates and directs the Nursing Services Department programs and activities.
  • Develops, maintains and updates written Nursing policies, procedures, manuals, and objectives.
  • Assists in developing methods for coordinating nursing services with other resident services.
  • Implements plan of action to correct sited licensure deficiencies.
  • Completes medical forms, reports, evaluations, studies, and maintains the MDS program.
  • Develops, implements, and maintains the Quality Assurance Program.
  • Assists in planning, developing, implementing and maintaining the resident admission and discharge procedures and plans.
  • Participates in surveys and inspections by government agencies.
  • Provides input for annual budget preparation representing the needs of the Nursing Department.
  • Participates in interviewing and screening residents for admission to the facility; informs staff of new admissions and ensures rooms are ready.
  • Monitors residents’ treatment and medication plans to ensure residents are receiving proper care; reviews nursing documentation to ensure compliance with regulations; makes rounds with physicians to ensure proper record keeping, and provides direct nursing care as needed.
  • Assists in recruiting, hiring, counseling, evaluating, disciplining and terminating nursing service personnel; documents and coordinates personnel actions with the HR Manager and the Administrator.
  • Schedules departments work schedules to ensure adequate staffing to meet resident needs.
  • Monitors to ensure that all nursing service personnel have valid and current licenses and are performing duties in accordance with acceptable nursing standards.
  • Reviews personnel complaints and grievances and ensures that all personnel are treated consistent with policies and applicable laws.
  • Monitors nursing services to ensure that residents’ rights and needs are met; and reviews, promptly reports to the Administrator and maintains written records of all resident complaints and grievances.
  • Assists in developing for each resident, in compliance with federal/state guidelines, a preliminary and comprehensive assessment and written care plan; encourages residents and families to participate in the development and review of care plans; and ensures that all staff are aware of the care plan and that they are used in providing daily nursing services to the resident.
  • Develops and participates in the planning, implementing, conducting and scheduling orientation, training and in-service educational activities for nursing service personnel in order to maintain professional competence as well as current licenses.
  • Assists in developing, implementing and maintaining safety standards, written aseptic and isolation techniques, programs for monitoring communicable or infectious diseases, and procedures for reporting hazardous conditions or equipment
  • Performs other duties that may be necessary in the best interest of our Organization , Inc. to meet the personal service and care needs of the facility residents.

  • Ability to read, write, and speak English.
  • Ability to problem solve and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands; use fingers; handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; talk; and hear. The employee frequently is required to sit, stand, and walk; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, bend, or crawl. Employee is required to lift up to 25 pounds and/or move up to 75 pounds (with assistance). Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. Employee is required to transport (drive) and assist Villagers in and out of vehicles. Employee is required to perform CPR/First Aid.
