Controls Engineer

As a Controls Engineer, you will be a viable member of a team focused on building high-quality, state-of-the-art passenger trains. 
Key Activities
  • Create software functional specifications and concepts for vehicle control systems
  • Perform routine PLC programming assignments 
  • Work closely with other electrical, mechanical and software engineers to specify, create, optimize, manage, debug and troubleshoot code on test modules as well as on railway vehicles
  • Write system and customer technical documentation
  • Support the initial commissioning of the vehicles 
  • Provide thorough type testing support for new vehicles 
  • Create PLC controller and system performance requirements
  • Collaborate with suppliers and certification authorities in an international environment
  • Interpret and incorporate local and federal, as well as customer requirements, into the system design 
  • Ensure compliance to customer requirements while ensuring all applicable standards, laws and national requirements are met 
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Software, Computer or Electrical Engineering
  • Experience in programming PLC software (IEC 61131), knowledge of Java and/or Python is a plus 
  • Proficiency in various network and field bus communication technologies (e.g. CAN / CANOpen, Ethernet / TRDP)
  • Excellent communication and writing skills 
  • Excellent technical problem-solving abilities with strong teamwork skills
  • Business fluent in English 
  • 2 - 5 years of relevant experience in railway, defense, or equivalent
