St. Vincent Haven is Hiring a Development Director Near Newark, OH

St. Vincent DePaul Housing Facilities (St. Vincent Haven) seeks a Development Director interested and called to mission-focused work for sharing the impact of its many works with our loyal and future donors, and offering them opportunities for greater impact upon the whole community through their philanthropy. The position oversees online marketing, monthly pledges, endowment building, capital campaigns, grant writing, existing fundraisers, and regular giving. The ideal candidate embodies (or is open to) Catholic/Christian lifestyle and values.

Mission: With respect and compassion, motivated by gospel values and following the mission of the Society of St Vincent dePaul, the St. Vincent Haven will provide emergency housing to those men who are homeless with the goal of building the individual's life skills as a foundation for future growth and stability that will lead to housing security.

Reports to: The Executive Director (ED)

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work with ED and Board of Directors (BOD) to create overall marketing strategy.
  • Maintain budget and regular reporting requirements to ED and BOD.
  • Participate in community activities, i.e. Chamber of Commerce events.
  • Help lead and participate in the planning and work of all existing fundraisers.
  • Perform other development activities as may be required by management.

  • Ability to maintain several tasks and prioritize those tasks. Ability to maintain efficient/effective communication in appreciation for being part of a team of superiors, peers, volunteers, and donors
  • Ability to focus on the detail while maintaining accuracy.in a timely manner.
  • Is motivated by the age old principle of a “job well done.”

Skills, Knowledge, and Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent experience in communications, marketing, sales, or related field with proven results, development-related skills preferred.
  • Team player able to relate to and work with diverse constituencies, including all levels of staff, volunteers, BOD, and donors, including individuals, foundations, and corporations.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills. Willing to show empathy and vulnerability in a professional demeanor. Capable of being an independent worker with the ability to develop and implement a plan, and maintain communication about progress.
  • Ability to read basic financials, such as a budget, balance sheet, cash flow report, and a profit & loss statement.
  • Capable of planning and implementing successful fundraising programs.
  • Willing to be flexible with schedule, to be available for time needed to accomplish goals.
  • Ability to unify the ED, BOD, staff, and volunteers on a uniform vision for development.
  • Strategically manage a portfolio of corporate, foundation, and individual prospects.
  • Oversee each step of the donor process: identification, qualification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship.
  • Maintain the highest of ethical standards in all circumstances.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, especially Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Accountability:

  • Ability to manage process, deadlines, and budget while adhering to the policies and procedures of the organization.
  • Ability to steward donors’ gifts and communicate the impact of their philanthropy.
  • Support Rules and Bylaws of the Society of St. Vincent DePaul, and the Handbook of the organization.
  • Adhere to all pertinent legal regulations.
  • Prepares and accomplish performance and program objectives as defined by the ED and BOD.
  • Participates in annual performance and self-evaluation reviews, based on defined objectives, competencies, skills, and knowledge.

Salary is competitive, market-based, and commensurate with experience.
