Hannah More Family Shelter is a comprehensive 85 bed shelter in Baltimore County serving families experiencing homelessness. Services are 24/7 with family rooms. Provides a short term, safe place to live and to receive supportive services to move from homelessness to housing

SUMMARY

Under the supervision of Security Facility Coordinator, the Janitor is responsible for performing basic janitorial duties for the Hannah More Family Shelter. The Janitor is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness of the shelter and the grounds.

PRIMARY DUTIES

• Vacuuming, sweeping, and mopping the floors and stairways
• Clean and sanitize bathrooms
• Clean kitchen countertops, microwaves, refrigerators, and break rooms
• Empty all trash cans, clean receptacles, and replace liners as necessary
• Clean windowsills and windows
• Maintain janitor closets in a clean, organized and safe manner
• Restock supplies in the bathroom, break rooms, and common areas.

SECONDARY DUTIES

• General maintenance of the grounds

ADDITIONAL DUTIES

• Participates in staff meetings and other meetings as requested.
• Upholds the vision, mission and values of St. Vincent de Paul.
• Assists with and attends special events held by the Center and St. Vincent de Paul as necessary.
• Other routine maintenance duties as assigned within the scope of the position.

QUALIFICATIONS

• High School Diploma/ GED (Associates Degree Preferred).
• 2 years janitorial experience.
• Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
• Ability to relate in a courteous, non-judgmental manner with persons from all ethnic, socioeconomic, and religious backgrounds.
• Desire and ability to work as a team player.
• Pleasant and courteous telephone manner.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

• Lifting 50 pounds maximum with frequent lifting and/or carrying of objects up to 25 pounds.
