Job Description

BASIC FUNCTION:

The Outlet Supervisor is vital to guiding and training servers, by setting service standards. This individual will lead team members by an established training protocol, as well as by example. Providing excellent customer service to members & their guests dining at the club, is paramount. This person can be a working supervisor, in that they can take tables during their shift, keeping gratuities per normal.

This position requires the ability to speak clearly and comfortably to a diverse and demanding customer base. The ability to present & conduct oneself professionally is required, as well as the ability to work effectively with the staff.

This position requires the ability to interact with the public, speak English clearly, remember details, as well as physical exertion in the way of walking, standing, turning, bending, lifting, and carrying. All duties are to be performed within the guidelines of the St Petersburg Yacht Club policies and procedures, Internal Control Standards and objectives.

QUALIFICATIONS: EDUCATION, KNOWLEDGE, TRAINING, & WORK EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum of 5 years server experience (Private Club experience a bonus)
  • Ability to walk or stand for extended periods, up to 6 hours
  • High energy and detail oriented
  • Superior Wait Staff Service skills
  • A minimum of 2 years of management experience
  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each of the essential duties and responsibilities satisfactorily.
  • Manager Safe Serve (or Florida equivalent) certification is required and must be maintained.
  • Experience of overseeing a staff of 15 or more.
  • Excellent communication skills.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Walk thru of dining spaces before opening (or shift start), ensuring set up is correct. 
  • Ensure satisfaction by communicating with the tables of dining guests to make sure their dining experience is going well
  • Oversee staff, making sure they are in proper uniform, presenting a clean and professional image & arrive at scheduled times
  • Ensure that all staff complete side work & that the dining areas are Clean upon completion of shifts
  • Perform opening & closing side work as needed, and supervision of the same
  • Protect the organization, the members and the guests by adhering to sanitation, food safety, safe work practices and alcohol beverage control policies including confirming legal drinking age and discontinuing service to intoxicated guests
  • Is visible to staff and clients during dining hours
  • Should have a flexible schedule as is a given with hospitality
  • Must be available evenings, weekends and holidays
  • Report to work well-groomed in full uniform and on time with badge on upper right side of uniform.
  • Provide prompt, friendly, and courteous service of food and beverage to all of our Members and Guests.
  • Be hospitable, friendly, and polite with all members, guests, co-workers, and management using positive body language.
  • Have a strong understanding of the philosophy and goals associated with St Petersburg Yacht Club and is supportive of them at all times.
  • Perform any duties assigned by the Director of Restaurants, or other Managers 
  • Assist all employees (day and evening) in performing their duties whenever required and work as one team.
  • Be familiar with all club guest check (chit) procedures.
  • Works in a designated area and is attentive to members and guests at all times and exceed their expectations.
  • Adhere to all policies and procedures pertaining to liquor laws.
  • Be knowledgeable of St. Petersburg Yacht Club history as well as the property, location of restrooms, hours of operation of the club store and restaurants and be able to efficiently handle inquiries.
  • Maintain full knowledge of menu and all wine lists
  • Greet all guests within one minute in a friendly and courteous manner using positive body language.
  • Complete designated opening and closing side work daily and check with manager before clocking out.
  • Meet the attendance guidelines of the job and adhere to regulatory, departmental and company policies.
  • Punch time clock at beginning and end of shift and punch out for all breaks and punch in again when break is over
  • Attend all necessary training meetings.
  • Assist in other projects, as directed.
  • Relay all member or guest complaints and/or compliments to immediate manager or manager on duty.
  • Duties, responsibilities, requirements and expectations pertaining to this job are subject to change as needed.

ADMINISTRATIVE FUNCTIONS:

  • Assist with creating training manual for overall service
  • Perform staff certification on food handling
  • Assist Director with hiring of new team members
  • Manage Jonas system for reservations (nightly service as well as holidays & special occasions)
  • Review closing paperwork for floor staff

MARGINAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. All outlet employees are required to review all information posted in designated area, including schedules, stations, upcoming events, and 86 board, etc.
  2. Review reservation book to identify VIP’s, special members, and large parties. 
  3. Maintain a neat and organized work station.
  4. Keep wait stations clean, organized and stocked.
  5. Pre-bus all tables if busser has not had a chance to do so
  6. General upkeep of restaurant. (ex: Pick up debris or litter from floors, sweep when needed, etc.)
  7. Follow weekly designated side work duties.
  8. Visit all tables during service to insure member satisfaction.
  9. Upon departure, assist members with chairs if needed thanking them, and inviting them to return.
