We are currently looking for a talented Host / Hostess to join our team. The Host / Hostess will greet guests entering the restaurant and seat them in a timely manner. All duties will be performed within the guidelines of the St. Petersburg Yacht Club policies and procedures, Internal Control Standards, and objectives. The ideal candidate has a pleasant and courteous personality, a high school diploma (or equivalent), and at least one year of restaurant experience.

Responsibities

• Greets and interacts with members in a friendly and professional manner
• Seats all guests in a timely and courteous fashion, clears extra settings if not needed, and presents menu to each guest
• Answers telephone and takes reservations
• Volunteers Club information to guests and maintains knowledge of other restaurants, shops, and locations on the property and about current/upcoming events
• Keeps work area/podium clean and organized
• Communicates with kitchen and staff to ensure steady flow of dining guests
• Maintains waiting list of guests
• Follows all company policies, procedures, and standards regarding job duties, attendance, personal appearance and demeanor, etc.
• Performs other duties as assigned

Qualificatons

• High school diploma or equivalent
• One year of restaurant experience and good food and service knowledge
• Must have an outgoing, friendly personality and a cheerful, accommodating disposition
• Must remain calm and professional in a busy environment
• Must have excellent communication skills, including the ability to speak English fluently and to read and write in basic English
• Must be able to resolve problems/conflicts in a diplomatic and tactful manner
• Must be able to speak and hear, use close and distance vision, and identify and distinguish colors
• Must be physically able to perform the duties of the job, which includes standing, walking, and moving through indoor and outdoor areas for extended periods; frequently lifting/carrying up to 25 pounds; reaching with hands and arms in any direction; and kneeling and stooping repeatedly
• Must be able to work an indoor or outdoor setting depending on event
