OVERVIEW:

Plans and arranges social, cultural, and recreational activities for Highland Lakes Assisted Living. Assist Activity coordination in carrying out a program of activities which will include spiritual development, recreation, diversion, intellectual, and education development for Residents. Blood and body fluids exposure: Category II.

RESPONSIBILITIES: Include the following and other duties may be assigned.

  • Keeps confidential all information not specifically authorized to be given to others.
  • Reviews Residents’ backgrounds for appropriate activity level.
  • Organizes activities by keeping a calendar of activities on display for resident’s use.
  • Schedules at least three activities each weekday.
  • Schedules at least two activities each day of the weekend.
  • Schedules at least four evening activities per week.
  • Schedules at least one activity outside the community each week, and arranges necessary chaperones.
  • Plans activities and creates a calendar at least a month in advance and submits it to the Administrative Assistant for print in the monthly newsletter.
  • Arrange for outside entertainers and submit invoices for payment.
  • Procure necessary supplies for the various activities that are planned on the calendar.
  • Submits requests for activity program food items to Dining Service Coordinator in a timely manner.
  • Encourages Resident participation by creating excitement about the upcoming activity, and may include going door to door to invite especially the new Residents to attend.
  • Assist Residents in getting to/from Activity programs and requests assistance from Certified Nursing Assistants as needed to assist with activity involvement.
  • Positive interaction with other departments to discuss and assess Residents’ recreational needs.
  • Organize and conduct a monthly Activity Planning Meeting with Residents, so they can make suggestions on existing activities and make recommendations on possible new activities of interest.
  • Meet with new Residents upon Move in to obtain information on their interests and provide an activity calendar for the current month.
  • Establishes actions and goals to meet Residents recreational needs.
  • Maintains Residents’ contact with community by enlisting volunteer groups in Resident activities and involving local businesses, churches, and clubs in Resident activities.
  • Performs special services for Residents by decorating the facility for holidays, parties, etc. Running errands, making beauty/barber appointments, writing letters, and visiting Residents that stay in their Apartments.
  • Keeps records of Resident activities by maintaining a Resident Activities file and keeps other pertinent Resident data information on file such as; birthday lists, anniversary lists, resident association meeting notes, copies of old activity calendars, etc.
  • Assist Residents in filing a Grievance Report when appropriate.
  • Maintains and updates Pet Status forms.
  • Coordinates the Resident Association Meeting each month, assist the Resident Association President in running the meetings as needed.
  • Coordinates the New Resident Welcome Ambassador program and works to recruit other Residents to volunteer.
  • Communicates scheduled activities with staff members, and requests coverage when he/she is not available to run the activity such as on the weekend.
  • Fills in for Administrative Assistant in handling mail delivery to Residents, Resident Trust Fund, Resident rent payment and securing the building at the end of day.
  • Observes and follows all safety policies and procedures.
  • Observes and follows infection control policies and procedures.
  • Attends all mandatory in-services as required.
  • Demonstrates positive guest relations to internal and external customers.
  • Team Members are required to report to their Department Director all incidents of actual or possible abuse of a Resident that they become aware of. Abuse in this respect includes, but is not limited to, verbal, sexual, physical, and/or mental abuse, corporal punishment, involuntary seclusion, neglect, and/or any misappropriation of property concerning St. Mark Village Residents. Team Members will make the report as soon as possible after they become aware of the incident of actual or possible abuse.
  • May be assigned other related duties and responsibilities as required by Highland Lakes Assisted Living Administrator.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

QUALIFICATIONS:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. REQUIRED SKILL, EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

LANGUAGE SKILL:

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of Residents or Team Members of organization. Must have a clear speaking voice.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

REASONING ABILTIY:

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
