St. Louis Voices Academy of Media Arts is Hiring a School Culture and Climate Coordinator Near St. Louis, MO

School Overview

St. Louis Voices Academy of Media Arts is a new, innovative charter public school that will open in fall 2023 to serve students and families within the boundaries of St. Louis City. The school will start with kindergarten through first grade and add a grade each year, growing to kindergarten through fifth grade. St. Louis Voices Academy is a public charter school that leverages media arts and storytelling to equip students with the agency to excel academically, author their own futures, and make meaningful contributions in their communities. St. Louis Voices Academy is committed to media and storytelling, whole-child development, real-world inquiry, and progressive learner autonomy as design elements that allow the school to fulfill its mission.

Role Overview

St. Louis Voices Academy’s counselor understands the diverse needs of students and directly supports students, families, and school staff with strategies to support students in academics, learning strategies, self-management, and social skills. The School Culture Coordinator's (SCC) primary role is to support each student as they navigate their elementary school years. The SCC will provide education, prevention, and intervention activities, which are integrated into all aspects of children’s lives. The SCC implements a program that teaches the knowledge, attitudes and skills students need to acquire in academic, and social/emotional development, which serve as the foundation for students who have the agency to author their own futures. The SCC will be an integral piece of the educational program as they engage students and collaborate with adults to ensure that students are on track to achieve our EDSS. Additionally, the SCC connects families to resources that strengthen the students’ support system and alleviate barriers to student success.

Responsibilities

  • Manages student events calendar on google calendar
  • Supports with planning and implementation of quarterly assemblies with school and student leadership and grade level teams, including awards and certificates for academic growth, attendance, and behavior
  • Develops student programming to promote positive behavior intervention and
    supports
  • Develops and supports the student acknowledgment system
  • Supports grade-level teams with school culture field trips
  • Collaborates with the DCI for school academic and incentive field trips
  • Coordinate with community services providers to connect families to community resources
  • Plans staff culture and team-building events with the school leadership team
  • Provide individual and group support to help students cope effectively personally, socially, and academically
  • Consult with parents, teachers, school leaders, and supporting agencies concerning student needs
  • Facilitate the multi-tiered intervention process
  • Address parent and student concerns
  • Communicate with school stakeholders
  • Implements SEL and Restorative Justice
  • Support with the implementation School Safety Plan
  • Create and support a data-driven culture
  • Participate in administrative meetings
  • Update and maintain confidential student files
  • Assist with enrollment and kindergarten round-up
  • Assist in a continuous program of student orientation
  • Facilitate the activities of student organizations

  • Perform all duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Degree from an accredited college/university in related field
  • Evidence of alignment with the school’s mission: leveraging media and storytelling to equip students with the agency to excel academically, author their own futures, and make meaningful contributions to the communities
  • Evidence of alignment with St. Louis Voices Academy’s core values: community, commitment, courage, confidence, compassion, and celebration
  • Demonstrated commitment to educational equity and a deep understanding of drivers of the opportunity gap
  • Passion for improving the minds, characters, and lives of students both in and out of school
  • Proactive, strategic problem-solver who can work successfully in a fast-paced environment, often while balancing competing priorities
  • Personal responsibility and commitment to continual professional growth
