POSITION SUMMARY:

This is a non-exempt position responsible for the processing of assigned applicants for the Housing Choice Voucher Program in a manner that provides accurate information, responsive customer service and complies with program requirements. Duties include scheduling appointments, interviewing applicants, organizing large volumes of data, tracking different types of information, performing calculations and maintaining data on the computer system.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

• High School Diploma and two (2) years of experience preferably related to administration of the Housing Choice Voucher or the Affordable Housing Programs. Must obtain a Section 8 Eligibility Certification and a Rent Calculation Certification within twelve (12) months of employment. A minimum passing rate of 70% must be obtained during the first years of employment and a minimum passing rate of 80% as a condition of continued employment is required.

• Ability to accept, date and time stamp all pre-applications when waiting list is open and place prospective applicants on the list accurately on the computer system 95% of the time for Section 8 and Public Housing Programs.

• Ability to maintain files for 90% of the applicants in strict accordance with the file organization protocol requirements, correctly determine bedroom size by family and issue voucher in accordance with program regulations.

• Ability to organize and manage large volumes of information in various formats, communicate clearly both verbally and in writing, complete all reports legibly, read, interpret and apply complex policies and procedures.

• Ability to conduct applicant interviews and obtain all necessary information in a courteous professional manner, compile reports and compose correspondence, and perform accurate mathematical computations.

• Skill in the use of a personal computer and various software packages. Good spelling and grammatical skills.

• Ability to review changes in applicant status including but not limited to intents to vacate, evictions, inspections action notifications, voucher issuance and program terminations.
