St. Louis Airport Hotel is Hiring a Breakfast Attendant Near St. Louis, MO

The St. Louis Airport Hotel is looking for a Breakfast Attendant who genuinely enjoys being around people and can manage multiple tasks at once. Candidates must have a professional appearance and experience as a server, preferably with at least 1 year of experience in the hospitality service industry.

The shifts are generally from 7a to 3p, Sunday through Saturday.

PRINCIPLE RESPONSIBILITIES:

Set up and break down of buffet area. Greet guests as they enter, monitor the volume of food to ensure guest satisfaction, maintain a clean and orderly dining space, and maintain a courteous and efficient operation to ensure guest satisfaction.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Meets and greets guests as they arrive, explains the choice of seating, then explains and escorts guests through the buffet area to ensure all guests are aware of the food and beverage offerings available.
  • Reads guest arrivals reports and maintains a log of how many guests have access daily. Based on this information, the Buffet Attendant adjusts orders for the following day.
  • Maintains proper set-up and follows appropriate grooming standards daily.
  • Places food/beverage request orders for the following day based on occupancy numbers.
  • Performs opening and closing duties.
  • Ensures all items are correctly stored in locked storage facilities at the end of each shift.
  • Ensures that the buffet area is secured at the end of each shift.

SUPPORTIVE FUNCTIONS:

In addition to the performance of the essential functions, this position may be required to perform a combination of the following supportive functions, with the percentage of time achieving each function to be solely determined by the supervisor based upon the company's particular requirements.

  • Perform other duties, such as carrying coffee and teapots throughout the outlet, refilling guests' cups as requested, handling special requests, and ensuring guest satisfaction.
  • Maintain an open line of communication between guests, management, and service staff.
  • Attend required meetings.

SPECIFIC JOB KNOWLEDGE, SKILL, AND ABILITY:

The individual must possess the following knowledge, skills, and abilities and be able to explain and demonstrate that they can perform the job's essential functions, with or without reasonable accommodation.

  • Ability to read the English language to fully comprehend guest requests, memos, reservations, promotional materials, event orders and similar written materials
  • Ability to speak the English language sufficient to conduct small employee meetings to impart new or important information
  • Ability to work under pressure and deal with stressful situations during busy periods
  • Ability to effectively deal with customer complaints and concerns in a friendly and positive manner. This involves listening to the nature of the concern, demonstrating empathy with the customer and providing positive and proactive solutions.
  • Interpersonal skills to provide overall guest satisfaction

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education

High School graduate or equivalent required.

Experience

Concierge or Buffet Attendant experience preferred.

Licenses or Certificates

Food Service Sanitation certification. CPR/1st Aid certification preferred.

Grooming

All team members must maintain a neat, clean, and well-groomed appearance (specific standards available).

The ideal candidate will put pride in their work, be reliable, and be friendly and professional at all times. Due to the cyclical nature of the hospitality industry, employees may be required to work varying schedules to reflect the hotel's business needs.
