Responsibilities
Position Summary:
Clinical Nurse Manager manages the resources and daily activities of a nursing department while ensuring environmental factors support high standards of patient care. Assists in the training and development of new and existing staff members. Creates and maintains an environment that is conducive to learning transfer. Coordinates the activities of the unit for each shift and directs, organizes, and assigns work to the nursing staff. Provides patient care as needed.
Principal Duties and Accountabilities:
  • Schedules nursing staff to specific shifts, taking into account past utilization trends. Measures employee performance. Assists in the training of new staff members and the development of existing staff members.
  • Coordinates the activities of the unit during a particular shift and directs, organizes, and assigns work to the nursing staff.
  • Assesses, monitors, and educates the nursing staff on patient care. Institutes emergency procedures as necessary.
  • Provides nursing care to patients on an as needed basis.
  • Manages the operations and services of the Cancer Center. Facilitates multi-disciplinary programs to develop standard of care in clinical pathways. Assures departmental competency and compliance to all regulatory accreditation and hospital standards of care.
  • Prepares and justifies annual budgeting maintaining effective staffing plans determining productive and non-productive expenditures and determining non-labor expense requirements. Coordinates capital equipment budget in collaboration with medical staff. Explores and initiates revenue enhancement activities. Manages department budget within fiscal year approved targets.
  • Participates in the planning development and implementation of organizational operational and strategic goals. Develops implements and monitors department safety management programs. Develops and implements business and marketing plans to aid in the development and advancement of service line.
  • Responsible for staffing and performance management of staff. Monitors productivity and quality to maintain compliance with all regulatory standards gives feedback to staff and maintains workload.
Qualifications
Minimum:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of nursing experience and two (2) years of supervisory experience.
  • Arizona Registered Nursing License.
  • American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS).
  • Advanced Life Support as required for specialty area.
  • Basic computer skills, Word, Excel.

Preferred:

  • Master's degree strongly preferred.
  • Budgetary and productivity experience.
