St Joseph Catholic School is Hiring an Elementary Teacher Near Palm, FL

Description

Saint Joseph Catholic School is seeking a collaborative, and enthusiastic qualified teacher certified in elementary education for the 2024-2025 school year. The teacher candidate is a qualified professional educator who meets the requirements to teach in a Catholic school in the Diocese of Orlando. The teacher is hired by and is directly accountable to the principal. The teacher agrees to abide by the educational policies and procedures of the Diocese of Orlando and the Office of Catholic Schools as well as comply with the educational policies and procedures of the local school. The teacher cooperates with the principal and staff in providing an educational environment that promotes the ministry of Catholic education. 

Requirements

Essential duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Teaches and acts in accordance with Catholic doctrinal and moral teachings of the Catholic Church. 
  • Understands and appropriately teaches the curriculum of the Diocese of Orlando. 
  • Assesses student progress in accordance with the approved procedures of the Diocese of Orlando. 
  • Knows, teaches and acts consistently in accordance with the mission, philosophy, objectives, and policies and procedures of the Catholic school. 
  • Maintains Florida state teaching certification. 
  • Communicates regularly with parents/guardians, colleagues and principal. 
  • Participates in the Diocese of Orlando Diocesan Faith Fit Enrichment Program and in Diocesan and school-sponsored professional development programs. 
  • Performs teaching duties as assigned by the principal. 
  • Attends required faculty and staff meetings. 
  • Cooperates with the principal and staff members in school-related meetings, activities and projects. 
  • Maintains accurate student attendance and academic records. 
  • Maintains a safe, orderly and secure learning and working environment. 
  • Participates in the semi-annual performance review based upon the implementation of the general responsibilities of a professional educator in a school. 
  • Maintains confidentiality and discretion regarding school personnel, students and general school matters. 
  • Supervises and evaluates students, escorts students from building to building and on field trips (being responsible for keeping field trip permission slips as well as student medical information forms). 
  • Performs other duties as assigned. 
  • The principal assigns specific tasks essential to the function of the position. 

Requirements 

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Education and Experience: 

  • Practicing Catholic preferred. 
  • Compliance with Diocesan FBI fingerprint clearance and compliance with Safe Environment training and test requirements. 
  • Florida State Teaching Certification in Elementary K-6. 

Organizational/Interpersonal Skills: 

  • Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills are required. 

Language/Communication Skills: 

  • The ability to communicate, listen to and understand information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentences. 
  • The ability to read and understand information and ideas presented in writing.
  • Strong command of both written and spoken English language. 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

The ability to sit and stand for long periods of time. Must be able to reach, grasp, feel, and see up close and from afar. Must be able to use basic office computer hardware and peripherals, with or without reasonable accommodation. Must be able to communicate verbally and in written form. Tasks require the ability to exert light physical effort in sedentary to light work, but which may involve some lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling of objects and materials of light weight (15 pounds).
