St. Johns County Board of County Commissioners is seeking a Meter Technician for our well established Utility Department whose headquarters are located in beautiful St. Augustine, Florida.

The St. Johns County Utility Department is responsible maintaining 55,000 service connections across the entire county, consisting of both Potable and Reuse Water. We currently have 13 employees in the Meter Department, and employees within the Meter Department currently work 4 – 10 hour days, 7:00 AM – 5:30 PM (Monday – Thursday or Tuesday – Friday).
Employees work in a team oriented environment in a variety of divisions with two common goals in mind: to provide the best services to our citizens and to be the best public utility in North Florida. The work consists of related meter maintenance duties. Inclement weather and unsafe filed conditions contribute to the complexity of the position. The purpose of this position is to maintain water meters. Success in this position contributes to the efficiency and effectiveness of department operations. Contacts are typically with other county employees, plumbers, irrigation specialists, and members of the general public. Contacts are typically to provide services, to give or exchange information, or to resolve problems.
Examples of Duties:
This position performs technical duties in the maintenance and repair of water meters and the Meter Data Management System. The major duties of this position are as follows:
