The Shelter Operations Manager is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the homeless shelter, ensuring the provision of high-quality services to residents and maintaining a safe and supportive environment.

• Assures adherence by all staff to SJCS mission, core values, guiding principles, business standards and administrative practices.
• Ensures accurate record-keeping in tandem with Lead Client Care Specialists, including guest intake, billing log, client files, program statistics, and incident reports.
• Oversees the implementation of shelter programs and services, meeting weekly with Case Management and Client Care Specialist staff to ensure tracking of goals and maintenance of accountability.
• Oversees the Friendship Center program operations and day staff.
• Conducts regular inspections of shelter facilities and equipment, proactively assesses maintenance, repair, and supply needs and communicates them to the Facilities Coordinator and Director of Shelter Services.
• Provides leadership and supervision for shelter operations/activities, fostering a positive work environment.
• Oversees the use of shelter sites and manages shelter placements for all THA approved guests.
• Assists in providing training, mentoring, and coaching to ensure maintenance and application of training principles by shelter staff.
• Provides after-hours on-call support of assigned program operations.
• Maintains a positive image for SJCS state subsidiary and the parent company by cultivating positive relations with local community organizations, government agencies and service providers to enhance support services for shelter guests.
• Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Education and Experience:

• High school diploma or G.E.D. required; A.A. or B.A. preferred.
• Requires two or more years related experience working with persons experiencing homelessness. Experience incommunity-based programs and direct supervision is preferred.
• Valid health certificate to meet current funding jurisdiction requirements.
• Valid state-issued driver’s license with current driving record in good standing required.
• Crisis Intervention training certification (MANDT or equivalent) preferred; current CPR/First Aid certification a plus.

Work environment involves risks or discomforts that require special safety precautions e.g. safely operating a motor vehicle, exposure to aggressive human behavior. Work may require physical effort in including cleaning, pushing, pulling, moving objects, etc.
