St. Edmond's Home for Children is Hiring an Occupational Therapist - Part Time 3 days per week, 2.5 hours per day Near Bryn Mawr, PA

St. Edmonds Home for Children is a non-profit 44-bed Intermediate Care Facility providing care to medically fragile children with intellectual and physical disabilities. We are part of the Developmental Programs Division of Catholic Human Services of the Archdiocese of Philadelphia.

Our mission is to provide compassionate, dignified care, which includes charity, justice and excellence. We offer a holistic inter-disciplinary approach to care including, medical/nursing, therapeutic and social services.

POSITION FUNCTION:

The Occupational Therapist will coordinates the provision of Occupational Therapy services for meeting residents' needs in collaboration with physicians, the therapy team and consultants.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provides evaluation in areas of gross motor, fine motor, perception, cognition, activities of daily living, social/emotional, pre-admission, wheelchair assessment, and feeding and feeding equipment.
  • Provides treatment plan based on evaluation findings - adaptation and development of functional equipment as needed, or prescribed by consulting specialists. Participate in IHP planning and objective formation.
  • Provides annual assessment/re-evaluation with treatment provision.
  • Participates in ITA and IHP for all residents and provide appropriate documentation.
  • Provides in-service training to all staff as required for each resident's Occupational Therapy program.
  • Maintains departmental Policy and Procedure manual.
  • Maintains an inventory list of equipment in department.
  • Supervises the COTA and Therapy Aide.
  • Performs wheelchair assessments, procurements, adaptations and implementations.
  • Submit wheelchair prescriptions to the Physician or Orthopedist.
  • Order and fabricate orthoses and adaptive equipment as needed.
  • Perform all other related duties pertaining to the needs of the department.
  • Carries out responsibilities in accord with policies and procedures of the Home and requirements of regulatory agencies.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Occupational Therapy.
  • 2-years experience as a Licensed Occupational Therapist, preferably with children.

SCHEDULE:

  • Part-time, 15 hrs. bi-weekly; late afternoons, early evenings and some weekends (schedule is flexible).
