St. Davids Center for Child & Family Development is Hiring a Substitute Teacher Near Minnetonka, MN

PositionTitle: 

Early Childhood Education SubstituteTeacher

Position Overview:

TheSubstitute Teacher is responsible for assisting the classroom staff in the implementationand maintenance of a classroom program designed to give each child anopportunity to participate in experiences that will enrich his/her developmentin a safe environment.

EssentialFunctions:

Create an Inclusive Educational Environment

  • ProvideEarly Childhood Education consistent with ethical best practices and St.David's Center mission, vision and values which results in excellent servicesand improved child outcomes.
  • Demonstratea commitment to St. David Center's mission, educational philosophy, anddiversity statement.
  • Assistor lead classroom activities as requested by the Head Teacher or supervisor.
  • Activelyparticipate with all children as a partner in play, adapting to the abilitylevels of all the students in the classroom.
  • Coordinatewith team to maintain constant supervision of children utilizing St. David'ssupervision, transition, and tracking procedures.
  • Modeland follow St. David's Center Behavior Guidance policy.
  • Knowall medical conditions /needs of the children in the classroom (includingallergies) and how to respond to these needs.
  • Helpmaintain clean, safe, and organized learning environment as requested by theHead Teacher or supervisor.

Build Parent/Child/Caregiver Relationships

  • Establishand maintain positive, trusting relationships with children, families, staff,and St. David's Center for Child and Family Development.
  • Demonstratea positive attitude about children, families, staff, and St. David's Center forChild and Family Development.
  • Establishand maintain positive, pleasant, and trusting relationships with parents.
  • Communicatepertinent information about children to the Head Teacher or Supervisor.
  • Discusswhat will be communicated to parents and by whom with the classroom team inorder to give parents consistent messages in accordance with the Data Privacypolicy in the Employment Policy Handbook.

General

  • Incorporate agency's mission and vision and the program philosophy intoservices delivered.
  • Be reliable, punctual in attendance.
  • Keep supervisor informed of classroom concerns or other pertinent classroominformation.
  • Keep personal records as needed and submit to supervisor in a timely manner(time sheets, leave requests, etc.)
  • Read and understand the Classroom Guidelines and Procedures Manual.
  • Speak, read, write and comprehend language (i.e. English).
  • Adhere to all safety standards, rules and regulations (this includes all DHSlicensing and NAEYC standards)
  • Check and respond to St. David's Center at least 3 time per week.
  • Respond to requests to sub within 24 hours.
  • Sub at least 1 shift per month to remain an active St. David's Center employee.
  • In the spirit of cooperation and teamwork, complete other duties as assigned.

Schedule: Variable hours andschedule, M-F

Pay: 17.36 - 20.67/hr

Required:

Qualifications: Education & Experience (one of thefollowing):

  • Minnesota technical institute certificateas a Child Development Assistant with 520 hours as an aide or studentintern. 
  • Two years full time post-secondaryeducation from a college or university with 1,040 hours as an aide or studentintern with 9 quarter credit education hours.
  • Child Development Associatecredential, center based or for family daycare from the Council for EarlyChildhood Professional Recognition. Noadditional experience or education required.
  • Baccalaureate degree from anaccredited college or university in any field. No additional experiencerequired. Education: 9 quarter credits
  • Certificate or credential from atwo-year program in child development or early childhood education at aMinnesota community college or technical school. No additional experience oreducation required.

Knowledge:

  • Knowledge: Experience with children ages birth to age 8 preferred.
  • Knowledge of NAEYC Standards and DHS Licensing Rule 3 requirementspreferred.
  • Certification/Licenses: First Aid & CPR certificationrequired.

Skills:

  • Good communication skills required.
  • Ability to team with others required.
  • Demonstrate commitment to self-awareness and relationshipmanagement.?
  • Experience working with children ages birth to age 8 preferred.
