Job Summary and Qualifications

As a Physical Therapy Assistant, you will administer physical therapy treatments according to the treatment plan developed by the Physical Therapist. You will provide essential department operational tasks, including patient treatment and continuing education, infection control, and quality assurance. You will work in all physical therapy areas including rehab, outpatient, and acute.

• You will coordinate and conduct treatment programs and execute safely and effectively
• You will direct aides and student’s treatments and formally evaluate student performance during the affiliation as required by their academic institution
• You will adjust treatment time based on diagnosis and patient need
• You will adapt therapeutic interventions as patients’ abilities and skills change in order to meet goals
• You will respond to acute changes in patient status and collaborate with a licensed therapist to modify treatment techniques
• You will complete daily charges and treatment records and document all services and patient progress
• You will initiate incident reports and review with department supervisor
• You will train techs in various physical therapy techniques, volunteer programs, and student programs

What qualifications you will need:

Education

• Associate’s degree in Physical Therapy

Licenses and Certifications:

• Current license as a Physical Therapy Assistant
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification

St. David’s Surgical Hospital is a destination surgical facility located in north Austin,Texas. A campus of St. David’s North Austin Medical Center, this hospital features 40 inpatientrooms, several operating suites, pre-op and PACU bays, and an intensive care unit(ICU).
