Certified school forest, outdoor classroom, flower and vegetable garden.St. David’s Center is located on the banks of Minnehaha Creek and close to walking and biking trails.Position Overview:The Assistant Teacher is responsible for assisting the Head Teacher in the implementation and maintenance of a classroom program designed to give each child an opportunity to participate in experiences that will enrich their development in a safe environment.Create an Inclusive Educational EnvironmentProvide Early Childhood Education consistent with ethical best practices and St. David’s Center mission, vision and values which results in excellent services and improved child outcomes.Demonstrate a commitment to St. David Center’s mission, educational philosophy, and diversity statement.Assist the Head Teacher in nurturing and guiding children’s social, emotional, physical and cognitive development.Partner with children in play and encourage discovery and active learningLead activities and assist the Head Teacher in creating a safe, developmentally appropriate, orderly, and inviting learning environment.Build Parent/Child/Caregiver RelationshipsEstablish and maintain positive, trusting relationships with children, families, staff, and St. David’s Center for Child and Family Development.Establish and maintain positive attitudes and trusting relationships with children, families, and all St. David’s Center staff.Collaborate with classroom team to give parents consistent messages.Communicate pertinent information about children to the Head Teacher.Develop Leadership Skills/ Professional GrowthIncrease knowledge of the program, agency and field through program and agency meetings and supervision.Provide leadership and direction to substitute teachers and new classroom staff.Schedule: Monday-Friday • Choose your own schedule, Full-time or part time schedules available. No Nights, No weekends!Pay/Benefits: Our employees are our most valuable asset; therefore, we offer competitive pay and benefits.
