Reports to: Music or Liturgy Director

Summary

The Musician will be responsible for performing and/or playing the requested musical instrument or singing for the various parish services, events, weddings, funerals and other liturgical events as necessary. The candidate(s) will be a part of the church choir/liturgical team to provide worship experiences in music while fulfilling the vision and mission of the parish community. 

Responsibilities

• Provides musical support to prayerful environment.
• Assists Pastor and/ or Director of Music and Liturgy in securing other instrumentalists as needed.
• Continuously maintains professional and liturgical education through reading, workshops, classes etc. 
• Is available to perform at special events including weddings, funerals and other events as needed.
• Provides musical/vocal accompaniment, and attends rehearsals, sound checks and other call times scheduled. 

Additional Responsibilities

• Attend all Archdiocese required training and meetings on Liturgy and Music.
• Attends parish and/or other meetings as scheduled by Music Director and/or Pastor.
• Actively participates in all “required” attendance Parish events as directed by Pastor and/ or Director of Music and Liturgy.

Musician & Audio - One of these positions will also require instrument/vocals and proven experience with utilizing and supporting audio technology. 

Requirements

Education and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Music, Liturgy preferred.
• Previous experience/ knowledge of Roman Catholic Liturgy including Lectionary and Sacramentary.
• Bilingual (English/ Spanish) preferred.
• Ability to sing with accurate pitch and rhythm.
• Ability to play various instruments a plus.
• Basic understanding of Music Theory.
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to communicate with all levels of staff, parishioners and others.
• Basic/intermediate knowledge of liturgical celebrations.
• Any additional certifications and continuing education related to this position are desirable
• Supports and upholds the philosophy of Catholicism and the mission of the parish.
• Adheres to the Code of Conduct and the Faith and Moral Policy is mandatory.
• Ability to work evenings, weekends and holidays when necessary. 
• Ability to maintain confidentiality.
