Hours: Every other Thursday, Every other Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, 10 p.m. to 6 a.m.
Job Summary: Night Aides assist in monitoring the well-being of the residents and taking security measures to insure the protection of the property. Also, assists in performing laundry and housekeeping tasks.
Job Relations: Is responsible to the nurse supervisor and works as a team member of the staff in meeting the needs of the residents.
Job Requirements:
Education: High School.
Training/experience: Previous experience in working with the elderly beneficial.
Physical Demands:
Ability to lift, turn, and transfer a minimum of 50 lbs.
Ability to tolerate standing and walking 65 to 75% of the time.
Physical abilities to stretch, pull, bend, and stoop.
Verbal and auditory abilities to respond and communicate effectively with residents in responding to their needs.
Emotional stability to handle stress as related to caring for the elderly.
Hand and finger dexterity to manipulate laundry and housekeeping equipment.
Visual acuity to assure clean laundry and perform housekeeping tasks as needed.
Behavior:
Maintains strict confidentiality regarding residents' personal lives and activities, as well as internal affairs of St. Anne's.
Uses patience, tact, and sensitivity in dealing with residents.
Coordinates and supports efforts by administration and staff in meeting residents' needs.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Assists in answering incoming telephone calls.
Assist in responding to emergency call system from North Wing.
Make rounds on resident floors to check the safety and well-being of the residents.
Assist with laundering soiled bed linens and night ware.
Assists with performing scheduled housekeeping tasks, vacuuming, dusting, wet mopping, etc.
Assists in checking doors, windows, etc. for security purposes.
Assists in caring for residents who become ill during the night.
Assists with visiting residents who may need some encouragement and positive reinforcement during the night hours.
Observes safety rules and practices.
Observes infection control policies and procedures.
