Groundskeeper/Maintenance duties and responsibilities
- A groundskeeping/maintenance main responsibility is to maintain grounds. This task is broken down into several duties performed throughout the day or at other regular intervals, such as:
- Pulling and spraying
- Keep outside front entrance clean
- Emptying trash cans
- Changing air filters and cleaning vents
- Cleaning siding and porches
- Washing windows
- Using equipment such as but not limited to: line trimmer, chemical sprayer, power washer, small tractor, chainsaw broom, mop etc.
- Clean and service groundskeeping/maintenance equipment as needed
- Collecting and taking out trash.
- Report any safety, sanitary, or fire hazards to the Environmental Services Director
- Work as part of a team to execute cleaning duties and to make sure that standards (of neatness/cleanliness) are maintained
- Assist housekeeping and maintenance as needed
Custodian qualifications must include:
- Ability to stand and walk for long periods
- Previous grounds and maintenance experience preferred
- Ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds
- Comfortable squatting, twisting, bending, and kneeling while using tools and performing groundskeeping/maintenance tasks
- Possess working knowledge of the methods, technique, and materials used in groundskeeping/maintenance work
- Ability to climb ladders and work from heights
- Familiar with operating, caring for, and storing groundskeeping/maintenance equipment and supplies
- Knowledge of different groundskeeping/maintenance products and tools and processes
- Time-management and multitasking abilities
- Physical strength and stamina
- Must be proactive when it comes to carrying out his/her duties
- Must show commitment to the overall goals or objectives of the organization
- Organization skills
- Must show commitment to the overall goals or objectives of the organization
- Good verbal communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work with minimal supervision
- Must be courteous always
Work Schedule
Monday – Friday 8:00 am – 4:30 pm.
