SSOE is looking to hire a Mechanical Designer to join our team. You will have the opportunity to participate in the design of state-of-the-art industrial and high-tech manufacturing facilities for the world’s leading high-tech companies. Our Mechanical Designers will be responsible for working with other contributing Mechanical Designers, engineering teams, and Sr. Project Managers to create and problem-solve exciting and complex designs that incorporate some of the latest design techniques, while ensuring that all specifications are met, and to ensure timely completion of projects. This position is an onsite role that will require you to work onsite each day and be located in the Hillsboro, OR area. Remote or hybrid work arrangements for this role are not available.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for producing technical project plans, specifications, drawings, and models that meet our specifications and client needs.
  • Responsible for creating, influencing, and finalizing designs involving industrial and domestic piping, plumbing, chillers, boilers, HVAC ducting, exhaust, motor control, process chemicals, wastewater discharge, Fire Protection systems and possibly other mechanical building systems.
  • Applies standard design techniques and procedures and exercising judgment in making minor adaptations and modifications to design concepts. Ensure quality control by complying with company and team design and CAD standards.
  • Will work with the design team, Engineers, Project Managers, and other stakeholders on specific assigned objectives, complex features, and aid in deriving possible solutions to unusual problems.
  • Coordinate needs, designs, and develops an understanding with other design disciplines (Electrical, Structural, Process/Chemical, Architectural, etc.) for design package needs.
  • Perform field verifications / site walks to identify, verify, resolve, and incorporate solutions into design packages. May troubleshoot design problems in the field during construction.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED is required. An Associate degree in engineering or architectural fields is preferred.
  • Experience working with AutoCAD is required. Experience with Revit, Navisworks, PIPE-FLO or similar hydraulic modeling software is a plus.
  • Demonstrated knowledge or experience with designs containing HVAC, chillers, boilers, pump hydraulics, exhaust, process chemicals, wastewater discharge, or other similar mechanical building systems.
  • Salary Range: $50,000 - $100,000/year depending on location, education, experience, and any certifications that are directly related to the position.
