Square One Inc is Hiring a Preschool Teacher Near Springfield, MA

Square One is a private nonprofit organization in Springfield, Mass. Our programs include early education and care, home-based care settings located throughout greater Springfield and out of school time care for elementary school age children. Our parent education, support and training programs are offered through groups, home visitation and personalized case management to help parents access whatever services are needed to be successful in their role as their child’s first teacher.

We are currently looking for Preschool Teachers interested in joining our team!

Qualifications:

  • Must be 21 years of age; or have graduated from an EEC certified vocational school.
  • Meet the EEC Certification requirements for pre-school teacher.
  • CDA preferred.
  • Must obtain and maintain First Aid/CPR certification.
  • Working knowledge of EEC Regulations.
  • Working knowledge of Teaching Strategies Gold (TSG).
  • Familiar with Individual Educational Plans (IEP’s) preferred, but not required.
  • Strong classroom management and organizational skills.
  • Knowledge and sensitivity to children who experience homelessness, trauma, social-economic diversity and their caregivers.

Description of Duties:

  • Plan, develop, reflect and customize the implementation of Square One’s curriculum, in collaboration with your teaching team and supporting internal and external consultants.
  • Continuously maintain visual and auditory supervision both indoors and outdoors of all children.
  • In absence of Lead Teacher - responsible for oversight of the classroom and children, teaching team, floats/temps, and volunteers.
  • Attend weekly team or staff meetings.
  • Uses community and program resources to develop the educational program.
  • Maintain classroom records and complete progress reports as required.
  • Communicate to the Director, or other designated individual, pertinent information with regard to families and children.
  • Attend parent meetings as scheduled.
  • Develop and/or implement behavior management program appropriate to the needs of children.
  • Interact in a positive and respectful manner with co-workers, families, and visitors to the program.
  • Carry out other duties as designated by Center Director.

Physical Demands

  • Ability to lift 20-70 pounds and be able to stoop, crawl and bend in order to support children.
  • Ability to see, hear, and communicate to children and staff.
  • Ability to stand, walk, sit, as well as to be able to move around the classroom.
