This role is part of the Lunar Permanence business unit, which develops Blue Origin's multiple Blue Moon lander product lines. We are looking for an experienced electric motor and solenoid engineer to lead drive development for our cryogenic hydrogen and oxygen pumps for our Lunar Lander for NASA's Artemis mission. Work will include the complete life cycle of the drives from requirements definition, analysis, design, development, assembly, verification, and operation on the moon!

You will lead electromagnetic motor and solenoid design, build technical development roadmaps, and define capabilities for lunar cryogenic pump drives. A typical successful candidate will have proven experience designing and building unique motor or solenoid designs for use in aerospace or other challenging applications.

You will work directly with NASA and our National Team Partners as part of the Human Landing System (HLS) Sustaining Lunar Development (SLD) program. You will play a key role in developing the Lunar Transportation system that will return humans to the Moon and extend human presence permanently beyond the bounds of Earth.

Qualifications:

• B.S. in Aerospace, Mechanical, Electrical, Engineering or related technical subject area
• 5 years of experience in clean sheet kW class motor or solenoid design utilizing software such as Motor-CAD, Maxwell, MotorSolve, or SPEED with limited guidance
• Ability to work effectively and collaboratively in a fast paced, dynamic work environment
• Excellent verbal, written, and graphical communication skills with ability to directly collaborate with external parties including government and commercial entities
• Strong project management skills
• Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to a culture of inclusion
• Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum
• Willingness to work on-site with occasional travel

Desired:

• M.S. in Aerospace, Mechanical, Electrical, Engineering or related technical subject area
• Systems Engineering experience, specifically requirements and interface definition, management and verification
• Experience with cryogenic, or aerospace applications

Compensation range for on site CO applicants is $117,728-$164,818
