SPS Commerce is currently seeking a Senior Manager of Database Engineering to spearhead our esteemed Database Engineering team! This pivotal role entails overseeing global product initiatives, offering technical guidance on key projects, and fostering the growth and empowerment of our teams. Day to Day ?

?

• Develop and lead a talented, collaborative and high performing database engineering team
• Develop and implement strategies for database architecture, disaster recovery, and high availability.
• Oversee performance tuning
• Manage database security policies and procedures to protect sensitive data
• Ensure compliance with database licensing, support agreements and audits
• Lead communication and collaboration efforts to engineer Continuous Integration & Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) solutions that simplify and improve software deployments to enable high velocity for our Product Engineering partners
• Lead, participate and contribute to strategic planning and technical direction for the Database team
• Collaborate with Technology Engineering, Development, and Product Management to help develop, scale, and improve production systems and services
• Effectively collaborate with key stakeholders within the organization to identify business needs
• Participate in an on call rotation with other engineers and managers

Required Skills ?

?

• Bachelors degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
• 10 years of relevant experience, with at least 4 years in a formal people management role
• Proven success developing talent and demonstrated experience working through others to complete work and resolve issues
• Deep understanding of Oracle Database technologies and architecture.
• Proficiency in SQL, PL/SQL, and Oracle database management tools.
• Experience with database design, performance tuning, backup, and recovery.Ability to work independently and be self-motivated
• Proficient participating in Agile Development Methodology and task execution
• Ability to think strategically
• Demonstrate proficient troubleshooting skills to provide resolution to incidents and problem management projects

Nice to haves

• Proficient with Amazon Web Services including EC2, RDS, Dynamo DB, Route53, Elastic Load Balancers, AMIs, IAM Roles, and CloudFormation
• Familiar with Database Continuous Integration and Deployment tools like Liquibase
