Sprott Newsom Quattlebaum Messenger, P.C., a top-notched civil defense litigation firm located in Houston, Texas, is currently seeking a highly motivated and skilled candidate to fill a Litigation Associate position and to join our legal team. The firm defenses a wide variety of personal injury cases, including car accidents, construction accidents, premise liabilities, Dram Shop, medical malpractice and more.
Responsibilities
· Conduct legal research and analysis on various issues related to ongoing cases
· Draft and review legal documents, including pleadings, motions, briefs, and written discovery.
· Assist with case management, including organizing files and maintaining case calendars
· Prepare evaluations and reports in effectively, timely and professional manner to clients
· Communicate with clients, opposing counsel, and other parties involved in the litigation process
· Prepare for and participate in depositions, hearings, mediations, and trials.
· Collaborate with senior attorneys to develop case strategies and provide legal advice
· Stay updated on relevant laws, regulations, and legal precedents
· Actively participate in all aspects of litigation management.

Qualifications
· Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school; preferably graduated in Top 1/3 of Class and participated in moot court/mock trial and journal experience.
· License to practice in Texas; preferably 1-5 years of Civil litigation experience with prior trial experience as Second Chair
· Strong knowledge of Texas Rules of Civil Procedure and Rules of Evidence
· Excellent written and verbal skills
· Proficiency in legal research using Westlaw or Lexis-Nexis
· Ability to analyze complex legal issues and provide practical solutions
· Detailed oriented with strong organizational skills
· Ability to work with a team and/or independently
